Although a basement can flood at any time, flooding most often occurs during heavy rainfall. Because of the nature of basements, they are inherently prone to flooding. Here are a few reasons why your Portland basement could flood.

The flooding in this Portland basement was caused by surface water around the home. The Portland area had received a substantial amount of precipitation, causing the groundwater around the perimeter of the basement to swell, resulting in about 6 inches of standing water in the basement.
