Steps To Fire Restoration

Step one is to contact your insurance provider. Generally speaking, most insurance policies contain provisions for employing a restoration contractor to help with the clean-up and restoration of the home.

In the second step, the restoration company that you choose to partner with will need to remove water from the structure. If moisture is not eliminated in short order, mold will very quickly become an issue. Depending on how severe the fire was and how much water was used in firefighting efforts, the removal of the water can take a few hours up to several days.  

If the fire was such that the home was a total loss, then the second step will be to level the building and clean and haul away debris. In this step, the restoration company working with you will be able to ascertain what can be saved and what will need to be disposed of.

When the debris has been removed, the restoration contractor will use special ozone machine to remove all traces of smoke odor as well as remove charred and unusable materials from the structure. Their final job will be to clean the floors and walls and prepare it for the reconstruction phase. The final step will be reconstruction. A reputable restoration company will work with you and your insurance provider to create a sound reconstruction plan to get your back into your home, once again.
